I stumbbled on to this site by mistake, but thank God I did. I'm thinking that this is just the place I need to be.

I have a outreach ministry for women called Sisters Understanding Sisters Here in Atlanta GA.
We are a christian based organization for women and children in need.
We've been around for about a year now and looking to grow our membership.

My mission is a little bit different than most because i come from the beauty and fashion industry and that is still very much a part of my heart.

I believe that if you look beautiful , then that can filter to the inside and the beauty from within comes out.

I am planning a fashion show for the spring of the year to raise money for my oraganization .
I would also like to do a fashion magazine and calendar.

I don't want to use a modeling agency, I want to use women that are or have been homeless.

I want to get women to volunter their bios for my publication that have come from homelessness into their own business, back to school, etc...

If anyone is interested please leave a message

Hi nielle, welcome to the forums.

I know a lot of homeless girls who would think that would a way cool experience. Probably better if they can mix it with real models and have someone's lead to follow.

But in terms of actually walking the catwalk- takes a lot of self confidence and that I'd say will be the missing ingredient for a lot of homeless girls that may keep them off the runway.

In presenting the show, it is obviously a big project. Maybe you could create a list of roles that are involved in the whole production (down to the ushers) and involve each homeless person somewhere within the production that they feel comfortable. That experience will I hope help build their self confidence as they played a role suited to them and do-able for where they are at.

Take into account that a lot of people don't want to be put on show, especially overtly "our models have all suffered horrible traumaic lives... here they are on the runway."

Anyway, I don't know fashion - but I do know homeles people. Hope my rantings help.
