Homeless man improves, hospital says
The condition of a homeless man shot in the face Oct. 20 by a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper has been upgraded to fair, to a University Medical Center spokeswoman said Thursday.

CALL FOR ACTION!!!!! STOP THE VIOLENCE!!!!!
When? Wednesday, October 25 at NOON
Where? In front of City Hall, 400 Stewart Ave., Las Vegas, NV
On Friday, October 20th a homeless man was shot for throwing rocks at a Nevada Highway Patrol Officer (See article below).
If you are one of many people who feel that police should not be justified in opening fire on a HUMAN BEING for throwing rocks, and that two trained officers should be able to restrain an unarmed man without using a gun, PLEASE JOIN US in saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Please send this e-mail to all individuals and organizations that would be interested in attending this rally.

It is time for city officials to realize that we are demanding justice and equal treatment by the police for all people in this community!
Our mission is to say (1) we want justice for the homeless (both kids and adults) and (2) police brutality and extreme force will not be tolerated.

Authorities say shooting resulted from rock throwing 'tussle'

A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper assisting a female Las Vegas marshal shot at and wounded a homeless man who was throwing rocks at them on Friday afternoon in a field near Durango Drive and U.S. Highway 95.
...When the trooper arrived, a homeless man began throwing rocks at him and a city marshal, Honea said.
The trooper and the homeless man then began to "tussle, " and the trooper fell backwards, Honea said.
The homeless man continued approaching the trooper and throwing rocks, so the officer shot him, Honea said.
