Bad palce to be homeless. Especially around 16th and Madison Ave. There are resources here but you sure have to watch for that CRACK users.

Don't stay in Phoenix. You're right. It's a bad place to be homeless. Do you know about the shelter at 41st and Cocopah? It's south of Buckeye. I don't know too much about it because I've never stayed there, but I've gotten coffee and a donut the couple of times I stopped in. Check it out.

I've been homeless in Prescott, AZ 4 times since we moved here 10 years ago. Mostly through getting hired by starting-up small businesses, then he business goes under and there goes the job.

My best suggestion for the homeless trying to get on their feet: ge a job with and travel with a carnival. The financial rewards aren't great, but you'll eat, have a safe place to sleep, and have a fun job. It IS possible to save money this way, if you scrimp a lot.
Been there, done that, in Prescott, and in Las Vegas, and in Oregon (where I met my husband - at the Gospel Rescue Mission in Grants Pass).

There is a fast way out of town using the trains. You can go in any of 4 directions. The trains are not very forgiving though

dude i would never be homeless in phoenix what a terrible place. first of all its super hot 9 months out of the year, crime there is horrendous/ there was some dude just going around town shooting people for no reason, i mean wtf? totally gang infested, drug needles everywhere the place just flat out sucks bigtime. good god i would never live there
