Hi im doing a project and would like to know a few things from people who are homeless or were homeless. sorry if my questions sound dumb.

whats the best thing about being homeless? is there anything?
the worst?
dosent it give you some sort of freedom? (being out on your own, doing whatever you want)
are these completely stupid questions, and you wish you were never homeless?
do those who runaway regret it?
do the homeless travel alot?
was being homeless a good or bad experience? why?

how many homeless are homeless b/c of choice?
cant the homeless helpthemselves? (i dont mean to sound offensive)
What do others do to help?
is what they do helpful?
what else can or should they do?
if you had your 15 mins of fame what would you say about the homeless?
what led to your being homeless?
if you have anything else to add that might be helpful please let me know.

to those who ans. thank you, your a big help :)

Hi Suite pee,
Providing it is asked sincerely, as your seems to be.
There is no such thing as a stupid question.
A question may reveal ignorance, but it is only because people are afraid to seem ignorant that the world as it is is overflowing with ignorance.

This is a thread that should answer most of your questions.

For an another perspective.

These will provide you with some good learning material, in addition to any replies you get.
Feel free to post any questions you have about anything you read.

Regards,
Konstantin

I'll answer them in order that you asked them, I may leave a few out, if I do I will state it.

1. Nothing good about being homeless.
2. Emotional pain i.e loneliness, stress, worrying, dealing with others etc.
3. No, people usually stay around the same areas where there are others in the same position and there are services availiable to them.
4. No not stupid questions, yes I wish I was never homeless, although there is pride to say that you survived it.
5. Thats a broad question. No I do not regret leaving home, but the streets were quite tough, if I was to regret something it would be the whole situation.
6. From my experiences no. Reasons being lack of money, once established in a community no need to move out into a new place where you don't know anyone, services availiable in area so moving away would mean survivng on your own.
7. It was both good and bad. Good because I have walked away from it a stronger person, who has a realistic outlook on life. Bad because how tough it was. There is a thread about why homelessness suck, read it for the bad stuff.

8. No idea, ask at a community centre or research it a bit. Although you can never really know the answer.
9. No, research around. The reasons are simple enough
10. There are all sorts of crises and community centres about. Also food vans and the like, research.
11. Any help is helpful
12. Research
13. Pass on that question.
14. Pass again.
15. Read, research, go to a local community centre and ask for info on the topic. Gain a better understand of how it is like to be homeless, it will help you immensly with your assignment.
