Hello & Help destined for Perth

Quick 1st post. Hello to all/any who is reading this and thankyou. My name is David and I am 33yrs old.

I was born in Kalgoorlie and raised for many years there and in Perth.

Now I am in the UK with an well salaried job with good prospects for life.

Monday 21st March I am going to resign with a happy heart. I currently have an ex-partner and a 2 year old daughter named Amber. I now own no property and hold no savings. What I did have I have given to my ex-partner whos name is Emma & my daughter Amber.

If I stay here in the UK then I will die at my own hands. I have spoken about these emotions with many people and many say I'm rational but simply emotionally empty.

My flight to Perth is in 2/3 weeks from this post. I'll land at Perth Int' and that is it.

I shall arrive with no money, no family there, nowhere to live and no employment. Nowhere to go once I leave the airport. It is to be this way or I end my life here.

This must seem so irrational to any of you who are reading this, seeing as I am deliberately making myself a vagrant. Though please believe me when I say that this course of action is the only way for me to live for many years yet. My heart and soul are being crushed daily here so in effect I am evading the inevitable. Yes Im an intelligent man but I am a man in pain all the same.

How do I find acommodation when I've landed in Perth?
What do I do?
How do I live?

Im asking for and needing help. I am not running from any UK authorities, just heartache & pain. I really dont want the alternative to be path I choose.

I am not from Perth, but did some research and maybe this will help:

If you log onto www.infoxchange.net.au
then click on the service seeker icom
then click on the map of Australia and click WA
then write in accommodation and go from there, have a look at the records listed then click on the blue line that says to expand the search for Sate of Western Australia

also play around with the service seeker focus etc icons to see what comes up

It might be a good idea to make some enquiries if possible about accommodation before you get here, use the internet to make contact if you can, or make a few phone calls ( you will need to get the international codes from the phone directory before you call).

I am assuming you have Australian citizenship, so you might be eligible for centrelink benefits. You might want to look up your eligibility on line at www.centrelink.gov.au before you get here.


Other areas to look in, log in to Google search and use keywords such as accommodation Perth, crisis accommodation Perth, etc.

Best wishes when you come over, the weather in Perth has been pretty good lately I hear.

Probably one of the hardest things to do is to make the decision to move then do it. But when you get over here, you will not be alone. You might want to make some enquiries about getting a caseworker to help you get linked into any of the services that you might require. When you arrive talk to the workers at one of the crisis centres about how you might go about making contact with someone to help you out when you get here.

Hi there, my name is Susie and I just read your post re coming to Perth W.A. Guess you'll already be here now it's June and I'm hoping things are going okay for you. I'm homeless but am living in my car at present which makes homelessness a lot easier to handle. A lot of petrol stations here have free showers if you ask, particularly the ones the truckies go to all around the fringes of Perth. We've had heaps of rain lately which can make life difficult but its been good for the dams and water supplies. The soup vans do their runs around Perth with soup and bread so you can have a feed that way if you got no money. All the best mate, and maybe I'll run into you sometime.
