I am a newbie to this form and I need help. My daughter ran away when she was sixteen (she is 25 now)to California (San Diego). She was diagnosed with oppositional defiant behavior and some other diagnosis at a very young age. When she went to CA she got involved in drugs and ( I am fairly sure prostitution). She was arrested for a small amount of cocaine the Judge suspened the sentence and put her on probation with the stipulation if she failed a urine test or got into trouble she would be violated. She messed up and got two years, did the time and was due to meet her parole officer and she ran. She sent me a small note stating she screwed up again and that she loved me and would try to correspond more. The envelope had a fake address but was postmarked with a Tijuana, Mexico address. The longest she has gone without contacting me has been four months. That was two and half years ago. I listed her as a missing person and she is on some missing persons websites but I cannot find anything. First of all she has never held a regular job so the way one would normally find a missing person is through a paper trail. I have tried to get list of homeless shelters in Mexico but there is nothing available they do not have digital information like the USA. I cannot afford a Private Investigator. I do not understand other than drugs why someone would chose a homeless or high risk live style. She knows that I love her and I have ask her to return to her home state she has refused. My fear is that something has happened to her and I may never find out what. I do not know what else to do. Except Pray.
