I am a writer for a magazine looking to interview someone who was a victim of youth homelessness. I would like to know your story and help inspire young people to get involved with putting an end to youth homelessness. Please let me know if you are interested. Welcome to the forums, thanks very much for posting. This is a great place to look for people to tell their story, there's many members of these forums who can offer a brilliant insight into homlessless. The thread "sk8r_rat - trying to get off the streets" is some of my story (what I was willing to post on the net when I could write). I lived on the streets in Australia for a few years from when I was 17yrs. I'm 20 now and have a job and semi-support accomodation. There's also alot of info about life on the streets in the "students and academics" forum. I see that you stated you're based in Chicago, is that where the article would be published? Is it to just be published in a magazine, or on the net or through other media as well? Are you just looking for those who have experienced homeless in the US, or all over the world? Could the person relating their story be anonymous or use a psuedonym?

I have been very lucky in that these forums have already given me the opportunity to share with others my experience of youth homelessness, and I still often participate in conferences/interviews/speeches and tell my story to take advantage of every opportunity to inform others of the issues facing homeless young people. So I would love to tell you my full story, but I reckon it's probably somebody else's turn. And I'm in a moderator role here at the moment, more of a service position. But there's so many great people who access this site, you're looking in the right place.

My questions - which magazine? Are you an employed writer for them or are you a freelance writer?

I was a homeless young person, and if there is one profession to distrust, after cops, it is journalists. What magazine are you writing for? In what country? What are the questions you intend to ask? Why not ask them right here and provide your email addy? I'm sure you would get some replies. If you outline your questions about being a homeless young person,I'd be happy to respond. It was in the 80's though for me, so it might not be relevant to you today.
