Gday Huffer welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you know your way around the streets pretty well.

This forum is a great place for people to talk about their problems and get good advice. I hope to see you around the forums some more ^^

Have you ever considered getting back off the streets?

Hi Huffers!

Welcome to the forums. Thanks tons for posting, like Joel said sounds like you've good a pretty good idea of how to look after yourself on the streets, these forums always appreciate a member who can offer their experience of homelessness. Also a good place to access some support if you're having some problems, when I was sleeping out I'd post on here all the time just to get the stress of the streets off my chest.

You seem to be a very genuine caring person also, I'd like to have you around if I was homeless in Ohio! I know what you mean about your street family, you build really close bonds with the people you're sleeping out with and everybody relies on each other to survive, when you get the treatment you've had just in the library it reminds you why you stick with your street family, they won't judge and will keep you safe. And you're right about "you gotta do what you gotta do", if you're hungry you have to eat, unless somebody is in the situation you are they can't judge or say what they'd do.

I think Joel has a great question, are you ok in the situation you're in at the moment? or would you like to get off the streets sometime? or have you tried before and come back to the streets? I guess (only if you want to) we'd love to hear a bit more about you and where you've from. You might also want to post in the "USA Homeless & Homelessness (http://forums.homeless.org.au/forumdisplay.php?f=23)" thread, many of us are from Australia, not that that matters much online, but if you're looking to connect with more people from the US you could try posting there also.

Hope you're well and post back sometime :)

hi huffer...whassup....
i'm sorry that people are so rude and undignified towards you....just ignore them....they are the unhumans.....there the ones that behave badly to their fellowman...and take a wiff of them they reek with perfume-makeup and god knows what other chemicals they douse themselves in....they consume like there is no tomorrow..well there probably won't be if they keep gorging themselves and wasting our precious resources......they are the waste of space...not you....i hope that you keep going to the library so you can keep posting...i like the way you tell your story and i'd love to hear more
cheers

wat it do folks

man appreciate the replies for real this site is off the chain man yeah ppl ive tried gettin off the streets believe that one stage i met up wit this old cat nice man nicest person i ever met he actually come up to me when i was sitting at the bus stop this cat come up to me actually treated me like a actual human man felt cool knowing someone out there other then my street fam actually cared yanno he asked my name and we sat there for bout a hour just conversatin he took me to a dina for a meal we kept conversatin he offered me a job doing construction i said hell yea so yanno he took me back to his crib hooked me up with a shower some clothes and a nice clean bed and my own private room after few months i saved up enough to get my own crib right so thats when everything went down hill i realized how mean and messed up ppl could be man id take my street fams back to my crib feed them shower them make sure they were safe but some person in my appartment building kept complainin to the land lord that i was letting stray homeless ppl bunk with me

man i aint gonna turn my back on my ppl i wasnt about to put them out so the land lord evicted me thats when i lost my job becos i was back out on the streets and gettin to work late becos i had to bus from far away get to work late at the time i lost my job old cats son took over the business he was a i aint bout to cuss on here but yea he was ignorant so i ended up with my street fam again taking in young cats under our wings yanno but the thing is ppl think they help you which we do appreciate but we got the ppl who were there through thick and thin to think about too we cant just be selfish and leave them out in the cold jus cos we got help and they didnt

i tell yal now i dont do drugs i dont chrome and i dont drink i use to when i first started out but after seeing a few of your street family memebers die of all this you try to keep away from all dat non sense yo its hard i know believe dat most of us street folks think that drowning our losses with drugs alcohol and other substances will take that pain away but on the real it doesnt it makes your days harder to deal wit u not only gotta worry about where my gone get food from u also gotta worry bout how u gone get your alcohol or other substances hard enough tryin to deal with the food and shelter problem let alone those things

but man i wouldnt trade my life for a cat whos a multi million i come to terms with who i am and im a person who is comfortable around my street family i can do what i want and never get judge i can mess up what ever and never get judge for it a multi million celebrity messes up once he all over the god damn news so i like being out here with my street fam only way i can be me without being looked down apon u feel me?

by the way never knew there was a u.s.a site like this but hey it dont matter to me we all in same situations australian, u.s.a, u.k, s.a man we all living the same life jus different countries anyway yo i better get back out there before a rush of ignorant folks come up in here

im out

hi huffer
there are alot of fellas in aus that refuse to comply to the system when it means becoming inhumane and disconnected from their fellowman if you want a piece of the wealth....you are right when you say that your dignity and humanity is more valuable than comforts and riches..how could you sleep warm and comfortable when your friends are cold and hungry....what is a home worth if you can't share its comforts with your friends and those in need....i would have left that place too...your street family is very lucky to have you in their midst...i reckon you are more needed on the street than in a meaningless job...working for the richman so you can give all your wages to the fat landlord-the greedy energy companies and the thieving taxman.... would you have any money left over to eat...barely

do you have family...
us blackfellas have huge families that mainly stay together...most towns have missions where the majority of the community live...most are poor areas with inadequate housing etc...but noone goes without a bed or a feed...

most of the whitefellas are the same they will help anyone out...unemployment is high in my town so most of us don't have much money and understand when someone is in need....except the rich redneck farmers who's families have owned the land since ahem!!!! "settlement"....
but we ignore them just like you do with those in the library don't get too close to them cos their cosmetic crap that they reek of will get up your nose and cause hayfever...thats what happens to me if i have to smell that stuff
cheers
